NAT VOETE – My feet is very wet

ENGLISH FRIENDS – Scroll down for translation.

Liewe sendinggerigte vriende en familie,

Die adrenalien pomp hoog vanoggend. Ek was nog nooit in hierdie posisie nie, maar ek moet gaan waar Sy vrede my lei.

Dus was hul voete eerste nat!

My voete is nat.

Dis ‘n rivier in volle vloed, reg!

A white car on a dirt road in the distance with two people walking in the foreground, and MY CAR with a sad face drawn in green over the photo.

My vraag aan jou is:

Dear mission-minded friends and family,

The adrenaline is pumping high this morning. I have never been in this position before, but I must go where His peace leads me.

When the Lord said to Joshua: “I have given Jericho into your hands,” something I had never noticed before popped out of Scripture. The water stopped and the people crossed over on dry ground. But not everyone at once…

I suddenly realized: The men walking in front had to step out in faith and put their feet into the river—which was in full flood—before the miracle could happen. So, their feet got wet first!

Little did I know He would ask the same of me. My feet are wet. Today, I am standing in a place so that the team behind me can take Jericho together while I carry the weight of a promise on my shoulders.

I trust that when I put my feet into the river of absolute “impossibility” this week, I will witness the miracle of the “water piling up” before my eyes and the eyes of my staff. The “wet water” is the R370,000 I had to borrow. That is a river in full flood, right!

As the saying goes, “My wheels are flat”—my car’s underbody has literally rusted through. When I tried to get a trade-in value for the little car that faithfully carried me for 220,000 km, one dealer told me: “If you were my sister, I’d tell you right now to get another car because you’re driving purely on grace.”

After much prayer, I made two decisions:

  1. Keep the old car: According to the quote, it will cost R25,138.18 to repair everything (excluding the rust that mustbe fixed), but then it becomes the UofN YWAM students’ “Stilbaai local run” car. This solves a major headache for me when the students arrive: I won’t have to constantly drive them back and forth between their accommodation, our training venue, and our local outreach locations.
  2. The big “wet feet” decision: Saying yes to someone who advanced me the money to pay off a bakkie (pickup truck). If you know me well, you know I don’t believe in debt… The Word clearly says, “Owe no one anything except love,” and I have strictly lived by that verse my entire life. But “feet wet” is the Rhema word for me right now.

As soon as I pay off the last of the R370,000, the bakkie becomes URstory property and will also serve as the recovery vehicle for our motorcycle outreaches next year. It only has 10,000 km on the clock and will help us drive into our “Jericho” over the next decade, hauling resources to our African outreach locations.

A 4×4 is too heavy on fuel, so I opted for the 2×4 which is very light on diesel. It has a canopy and a towbar, and the dealership gave us a discount of thousands! URstory experienced true favor.

Our first outreach takes place in March–April, followed by another from June to the end of July 2027.

Because I already have significant expenses—University meetings in November and saving for next year’s projects—I cannot cover the monthly repayments on my own. The person who lent the money is aware of this and joins me in trusting that the Lord will raise up the funds for this vehicle through one of His envoys blessed with the “gift of giving.” There are businessmen and women whose income funds missions because they cannot be on the field themselves.

Our field right now includes Angola, where they are pleading with us to come (and these aren’t just YWAM church-planting folks asking). We are also heading to Botswana in July and serving several impoverished communities in the Western Cape in March-April next year. This stands apart from the TESOL (teaching English) that we want to pioneer – and we really need a car for this.

Both I and the person who advanced the funds experienced complete peace after praying.

My request to you is twofold:

  1. Will you actively bring URstory before the Lord in this matter, asking Him to raise up the businessperson (or people) called to help pay this off?
  2. Will you take a moment to pray: “Lord, should I sow into this ministry—yes or no?” If the answer is yes, wait together with your spouse and ask, “How much?”

Thank you!

ALL incoming finance will be going to pay off the Bakkie ASAP
